Skills Performance Centres - Talent Identification Programme 2020-21

The programme is open to all youngsters aged from school year 1 up to year 7 (u6 up to u12’s) and our skills centres offer a 9 week programme ending with a trial match for everyone. Successful boys can then progress onto our centre of excellence/player development centres and pre-academy development centres with eventual pathways into our schoolboy youth academy. The skills centres are open to all abilities and below we have listed all of our centre details as well as answering FAQ's about how it all works.

WHAT ARE SKILLS PERFORMANCE CENTRES ALL ABOUT?

The successful skills performance programme is now in its 11th year of operation. The purpose of the Skills Centres are to provide high quality coaching for up and coming schoolboy footballers. Whether you are an ambitious player wanting to progress towards becoming a professional, or a new-comer, wanting to develop the basics, the skills performance programme has something to offer everyone.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE SKILLS PROGRAMME?

LTFC’s Youth Section prides itself on the high calibre of its coaching team. By signing up you will receive the same standard of coaching that has helped produce players such as Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis (both at Norwich City). No other football club in our region can claim the same level of success in terms of youth development - four England youth Internationals in the last three years: James Justin (now Leicester City); Cauley Woodrow (Barnsley), Jay DaSilva (Bristol City) and Lewis Baker (Chelsea) . In addition, over 80 players have been signed by our schoolboy academy through our skills performance programme.

GOALKEEPERS

We haven’t forgotten the most important player on the pitch and have a dedicate goalie SPC in Luton.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST & HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE MONITORED?

The cost per 6 week half term is £30.00 and includes practical sessions and one assessment game each term. In addition to the assessment match, all players receive a classification indicating their personal development over the term and will receive one of our new player classifications to show their individual progression.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO WELL?

If your coach feels you have shown the right levels of ability and attitude during the term you will be given the opportunity to progress to the Centre of Excellence/Pre-Academy. Players who display outstanding talent can be moved through the programme after only a few weeks if appropriate.
